User List

User List is the entrance screen of Personal Finance Assistant, it shows a list of Users that are using this instance of Personal Finance Assistant. You can have as many users as you have in this list. There are fews things you can do in this screen (refer to image below):

  1. This is a list of users that you have, select a USER, and click on the button in the toolbar for the specific operation. Double click on a USER is default to button "SELECT".
  2. These 5 buttons: ADD, COPY, VIEW, EDIT, DEL are the basic 5 operations to maintain the user list:
    • ADD - create new user,
    • COPY - create new user based on the selected user, all fields value will default to the value of the selected user,
    • VIEW - view the detail of the selected user,
    • EDIT - edit the detail of the selected user,
    • DEL - delete the selected user, WARNING: this operation is not undoable!
  3. SELECT - Load the data set of the selected user and start using Personal Finance Assistant, you only can load one user's data set at any one time.
  4. CLOSE - exit Personal Finance Assistant.
  5. View the End User License Agreement (EULA).
  6. The location of your data files, Personal Finance Assistant uses directory %user.home%/mysoftwarehouse/pfa as the location to keep data files. As the parameter %user.home% is vary from one system to another, depends on the user ID as well as the type of operating system, thus the data files location are normally different.
    You are advised to BACKUP the data files from time to time to avoid data loss caused by hardware/operating system/unforeseen failures.
